Remembering Japan (June 2015): Wizarding World of Harry Potter

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was our main destination. It was a dream come true finally getting here. All thanks to my lovely parents for granting me this as a gift for graduating. I have to say that this day was the best day of my life. There is nothing like seeing dreams materialize, seeing fantasies from books that I’ve read and watched since I was little come to life.

Remembering Japan (June 2015): Universal Studios Osaka

So Universal Studios Osaka was our main destination. It has got to be one of the best theme parks I’ve ever visited (of course I’ve never been to Disney Land yet–hopefully soon!). Although I spent most of my time in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, I enjoyed quite a few of Universal Studios Osaka’s attractions.

Munchies: Tokyo Bubble Tea + Honeybon Cafe’s Sushi

Tokyo Bubble Tea in collaboration with Honeybon Cafe is a Japanese cafe that immerses you in its food and culture. The place is huge but quaint and colorful with a honey comb inspired interior. The staff are nice and welcoming and will greet you in Japanese the moment you enter. The seats are cozy and very inviting. The music they play feels as if they’ve all been taken from anime shows (yes I recognized a few of them haha).

Films I Watch When I’m Sad

Films are a great way to distract myself when I’m going through something or am feeling the dementors rolling in. I just grab some food, a tumbler filled with juice, put the ac on, wrap myself in a blanket, and lose myself in movies. Here’s my go-to list of films that I watch to pick myself up (in no particular order):

Scott Pilgrim vs the World (2010)

This has got to be one of my all time favorite movies (possibly tops my list of favorites). I love the story, portrayal, editing, style, shots, music, characters (and the actors). I’ve read the graphic novel and I swear to god if you’ve ever wished that a movie stay true to its book this is it (well except of course at the end where he chooses who he’ll end up with but other than that it was straight from the graphic novel). Complete with the video game like special effects. Even the actors look EXACTLY like the characters. Casting was superb. This movie always picks me up because it is such a light and playful movie but guaranteed to take you to another world.

CASA Footworks #VictoReunion

A little intro: CASA Footworks is the official dance guild of the Communication Arts course of the University of Santo Tomas. I joined CASA Footworks back in my Sophomore year, and although I wasn’t an active member, I’ve gained a lot of friends and memories with this team.

CASA Footworks has recently bagged their fourth consecutive Championship title in a faculty wide dance competition called Cypher. Generations of CASA Footworks members have gathered to celebrate.

On Starting Over

The words “starting over” may contain a multitude of meanings. I’ve started over more times than I can count at the age of 22. And that’s okay. That’s something I’ve learned recently. It’s okay to start over, as long as you keep trying.

I believe that I’m constantly evolving. I know that I’m not the same person I was back when I was 12 or 14 or 17 or 19. Hell, right now I have bright blue green hair and I never thought I’d look like this back when I was a teenager (still can’t believe that I can use the “back when I was a teenager” line now).

Anyway, I’m going to save you the trouble of reading all about the sad mishaps that I’ve gone through that has forced myself to start over time and time again. This has got to be my 8th blog by now, and I’ve said this before but, I really hope I stick with this one from now on.
